Montcalm County Jail Roster Overview
Official county research did not locate a Montcalm County web roster or sheriff-hosted inmate search form. The Montcalm County Jail Services page and the Bond / Court Information page direct the public to the automated inmate and court-status line at 989-831-7592. The county says that system updates based on court actions. If court status or hearing information has not updated, callers may need to call back after 3 pm Monday through Friday because jail officers also will not know that status before then.
This makes Montcalm County inmate records different from counties with a live name-search roster. The county line is best for current jail custody and court date/status. VINE provides custody notifications. MiCOURT provides public case lookup after charges are filed. The sheriff records and county FOIA pages handle booking sheets, incident reports, booking photos, and other records that are not posted online. Sentenced state prisoners move to MDOC OTIS, not a county jail tool.
How to Search Montcalm County Inmates
The practical Montcalm County inmate lookup starts with the kind of question being asked. Current custody starts with the jail phone line. Court charges start with MiCOURT. A copy of a booking record starts with FOIA. State custody starts with OTIS. Federal and immigration custody use separate national locators. The county source set supports that route more clearly than it supports any online roster claim.
- Call 989-831-7592 for current Montcalm County Jail inmate and court-date status.
- If status is tied to a court action and has not updated, call after 3 pm Monday through Friday.
- Use VINE online or by phone at 800-770-7657 to register for custody-status notification.
- Search MiCOURT by full name plus year of birth or by case number for public charge and hearing records.
- File a Montcalm County FOIA request for booking records, photos, or incident reports not available through the public channels.
- Use MDOC OTIS, BOP, or ICE ODLS only when the person may have left county jail custody for another system.
Montcalm County Roster Search Channels
Since no official online roster was located, the correct field table is a negative inventory and channel table. It is still useful because it prevents a searcher from wasting time on unofficial booking feeds or outdated app results. The county's official path is phone, VINE, court search, and FOIA.

What Montcalm County Inmate Records Show
Montcalm County inmate records are assembled from official systems rather than viewed in one public profile. A phone lookup may confirm current status or court timing, but it will not serve as a full booking packet. MiCOURT shows court case data. FOIA can seek the underlying sheriff record, including a booking sheet, charge list, bond sheet, arresting agency, release record, or booking photo if the record is public and not exempt. A request should be specific so the county can identify the record.
| Record Field | Where It Is Usually Confirmed |
|---|---|
| Custody status | Jail phone line or VINE custody notification |
| Court date/status | Jail phone line after court action updates and MiCOURT |
| Charges filed in court | MiCOURT and 64B District Court records |
| Booking sheet | FOIA request to Montcalm County |
| Booking photo | FOIA request, subject to Michigan law and exemptions |
| State prison location | MDOC OTIS, not the county jail |
The Sheriff's Office Records screenshot source shows the FOIA-based route for sheriff records.
That route is important when the needed jail record is not available through the automated custody line or public court search.
Finding County, State, and Federal Inmates
Montcalm County Jail records cover local custody. MDOC records cover state custody. Federal and immigration records use their own systems. These divisions are not technical details. They decide whether a search returns the right person or no result at all. A person booked in Stanton may appear only through jail/court channels. A person sentenced to prison may later appear through OTIS with an assigned MDOC facility.
OTIS search fields include last name, first name, offender number, sex, race, age, offender status, and marks, scars, or tattoos. BOP name searches use first, middle, and last name with race, sex, and age filters. ICE ODLS uses either A-number plus country of birth or a biographical search with name, country of birth, and date of birth. Those fields are useful only after the custody type changes. They do not replace the Montcalm County Jail status line for a new local booking.
| Custody | Where to Look | What It Covers |
|---|---|---|
| Pretrial or local jail sentence | 989-831-7592, VINE, FOIA, MiCOURT | Montcalm County Jail custody and local court events |
| Sentenced state prisoner | MDOC OTIS | Prisoners, parolees, probationers, and recent supervision discharges |
| Federal sentenced inmate | BOP inmate locator | Federal inmates from 1982 to present |
| Immigration detainee | ICE ODLS | People currently in ICE custody or covered CBP custody |
Montcalm County Jail Facilities
The county facility map has two records-relevant facilities. The Montcalm County Jail is the local jail and the starting point for local custody. Carson City Correctional Facility is a state prison and should be searched through MDOC. Mixing the two can produce wrong assumptions about release, visits, mail, money, and record access.

Booking Process in Montcalm County
A person arrested in Montcalm County is taken to the Montcalm County Jail, where jail staff create the custody record, process property, record charges or holds for local use, and route the case toward court or release. The county does not publish a full intake manual, but its pages show several post-booking consequences. Jail/court status becomes available through the automated phone line after court actions update. Adult criminal matters start in 64B District Court, which handles arraignments, bond, warrants, misdemeanors, probable cause conferences, and preliminary examinations.
The county booking-fees page states that each person booked into the jail must pay a $12 booking fee under MCL 801.4b. If unpaid during incarceration, the jail issues a civil-infraction citation at release. If unpaid 14 days after release, the citation can go to 64B District Court for collection, a warrant, and a $150 fine plus costs. If charges are dismissed or the person is found not guilty, the inmate may request a refund through the Jail Sergeant at 989-831-7592.
Work release is also tied to booking and sentence status. The county work-release page says the sentencing order must state "Work Release Authorized," the inmate must meet jail guidelines, and approval can take several days. Approved candidates must have the first week of work release and room and board paid in the inmate account before leaving for work.
Montcalm County Jail Visitation Rules
Montcalm County Jail uses video visitation only. Visits are scheduled through IC Solutions or the jail lobby kiosk and must be scheduled at least 16 hours in advance. The county warns that all visits are recorded and monitored. Misuse, abuse, or violations can terminate the visit and may lead to disciplinary or criminal action. On-site video visits may be conducted in the jail lobby visitation room.
| Visit Topic | Montcalm County Rule |
|---|---|
| Visit type | Video visitation only |
| Scheduling | IC Solutions or lobby kiosk |
| Advance notice | At least 16 hours before the visit |
| Monitoring | Visits are recorded and monitored |
| State prison difference | Carson City uses MDOC approval and GTL video-visit steps |
Contacting a Montcalm County Inmate
Mail, phones, care packages, and funds are governed by separate county pages. The inmate mail page says mail should use the inmate's name and the jail address, and that mail is searched for contraband. Attorney mail is opened in the inmate's presence. The family and friends page says housing-unit phones are available from 7 am to 11:30 pm unless the inmate is locked down, and that calls are recorded and monitored. Books, magazines, and newspapers must be softcover and sent directly from the publisher.
The county visitation screenshot source documents the video-only setup and scheduling rule.
Those visit rules apply to the county jail, not to MDOC visitation at Carson City Correctional Facility.
Commissary and Montcalm County Inmate Funds
Montcalm County funds and bond payments use several channels. The inmate-funds page lists Express Account, Canteen Services, money orders, and phone ordering rules. Money orders must be mailed to the jail with the inmate's full name and/or inmate number. Friends and family have a $25 weekly order limit through the care package route. Bond is different from commissary. The bond/court page says cash and credit/debit bond payments are accepted at the jail lobby kiosk, and online credit/debit card payments can be made through Express Account by selecting the facility, inmate, and bond deposit.
Note: Confirm custody and bond status before sending money because a commissary deposit does not post bond.
